A great Open House season comes to a close!

We held 20 open houses in 2012 at Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse, along with two cruises, four nights of “Haunted Tours,” and numerous private tours. The total attendance for open houses was 3068; the total attendance including all events was 3540. Both are easily our highest totals ever since our founding in 2001. The highest attendance for an open house this year was 215 on September 2.

Of the visitors who signed our guestbook during open houses, we had people from 43 states plus Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. We also had visitors from 14 foreign countries: Germany, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Russia, Denmark, France, Thailand, Spain, Australia, Czech Republic, Ireland, Brazil, and Peru.

EJ Warren and Ed Stevenson each put in about 30 days and nearly 200 hours of volunteer time in 2012.

We had 32 volunteers take part in our events (including the volunteer training day) over the course of the season. The leaders in terms of volunteer days and hours were Ed Stevenson and EJ Warren. Others in the top 10 in volunteer hours were Sharon White, Sam Knowles, Claire Manes, Pat Heffernan, Ruth Knowles, Sharon Ebol, Ron Kolek, and Charlie Manes.
